A Uniqlo Brighton store is being planned for the former H&M unit on the Western Road side of Churchill Square.
Planning documents submitted to Brighton & Hove City Council show that the Japanese clothing retailer intends to occupy the ground and first floors of the unit beside the shopping centre’s eastern entrance.
What the Uniqlo Brighton store plans include
The application covers a replacement shopfront and new branded signs across the building’s street-facing elevations and main entrance. It is a clear indication that Uniqlo is preparing the site, although the submission does not confirm that planning consent has been granted.
An opening date has not yet been announced. Residents can view the documents and follow the application through the council’s public planning register.
A new name for Churchill Square
The unit was previously occupied by H&M, which moved into the former Topshop premises nearby. If the project proceeds, Uniqlo would add another major fashion retailer to Brighton’s main city-centre shopping district.
The proposal arrives during a period of wider change around Western Road, where councillors have also approved new traffic controls. Read our background guide to the Western Road resurfacing and red route plans.
