Brighton & Hove Albion have three names in contention for the Premier League’s September awards after an unbeaten month that lifted the Seagulls to third in the table.
Head coach Fabian Hürzeler has been shortlisted for Manager of the Month, while Pascal Gross and Babis Kostoulas are both nominated for Player of the Month. Public voting is open until 12pm on Monday 28 September.
Why the Brighton trio were nominated
Gross recorded two goals and three assists during the month. He was central to Brighton’s 5-0 league win at Coventry City and contributed a goal and an assist as Albion beat champions Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex.
Kostoulas also scored against Coventry before adding a goal and an assist against Arsenal. The 19-year-old’s work without the ball was also highlighted by the club, which said no forward made more defensive contributions, recoveries or final-third possession wins during September.
Hürzeler’s nomination follows a run in which Albion conceded only once in the league. The month also included a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory at Manchester United, although cup performances are not counted towards the Premier League awards.
How supporters can vote
Supporters can use the voting links published in Brighton & Hove Albion’s official announcement. Voting closes at midday on Monday 28 September, with the public vote combined with the decision of an expert panel.
The nominations arrive days after Brighton marked the club’s 125th anniversary with a memorable home victory. The official match report records a crowd of 31,944 at the Amex for the 3-0 win over Arsenal.
