A new play charting Brighton & Hove Albion’s journey from the brink of extinction to the Premier League will open at Theatre Royal Brighton next week.
Stand or Fall, written by lifelong Albion supporter and Brighton Fringe Award winner Mark Brailsford, follows a group of fans from the club’s final days at the Goldstone Ground, through the years at Gillingham and Withdean, and on to Wembley and European football.
When and where is Stand or Fall?
The production runs at Theatre Royal Brighton, New Road, from Wednesday 23 September to Saturday 26 September 2026. Evening performances begin at 7.30pm, with an additional Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. The theatre lists age guidance of 12+.
The play forms part of celebrations marking Albion’s 125th anniversary. It revisits the supporter campaign that helped save the club after the Goldstone Ground was sold, as well as the long route back to Brighton and the opening of the Amex Stadium.
A story rooted in Brighton
The production arrives as renewed attention is being paid to one of the most dramatic chapters in the city’s sporting history. A related Stand or Fall exhibition at Brighton Museum is also running until the end of the year.
Tickets and performance details are available from Theatre Royal Brighton. Further background is available from Brighton & Hove Albion and The Guardian.
