Stefanos Tzimas could return to Brighton’s first-team training next week after a lengthy knee-injury absence, Fabian Hurzeler has said. The update, published by Albion on Saturday 31 October, is a step in the striker’s rehabilitation, not confirmation that he is ready for a match.

Stefanos Tzimas: what Brighton have confirmed

The club’s 31 October report says the 20-year-old Greek forward has progressed after the injury suffered against Aston Villa in December. Hurzeler describes a gradual approach and says training time is the priority. The coach’s hope for next week remains conditional.

Albion have stayed in Manchester between their two matches against City as part of a sequence of away fixtures. Tzimas has not travelled there with the group. The report explains that decision as part of his training programme, rather than announcing a new setback.

Why the distinction matters

Joining full training and being selected to play are different milestones. The announcement does not give a number of sessions required, a projected workload or a date for competitive minutes. Readers should not turn “next week” into a promised appearance in the following fixture.

A FOX Sports team update also summarises the prospective training return. The directly attributed evidence remains Hurzeler’s update published by the club.

Brighton Locals’ view

Our judgement: progress towards senior training is encouraging after a long absence. Patience is the significant part of this update. It would be premature to treat a conditional training target as an answer to Albion’s immediate selection questions.

What happens next

The next useful confirmation is whether Tzimas actually rejoins the senior group and what Hurzeler then says about availability. For today’s City fixture, our existing team-news report covers the separately discussed return candidates. No new ticket or travel action follows from the Tzimas announcement.

Training progress is the news; match readiness remains unconfirmed.
