Hove weekend weather looks brighter on Saturday 17 October before a showery signal on Sunday 18 October, according to the Met Office’s Thursday-evening forecast for the County Ground in Hove. The practical choice for a longer outdoor plan is currently Saturday, with an extra layer for the cooler air.

Hove weekend weather: the local numbers

The Met Office County Ground forecast gives the following daily headline values:

Forecast for the Hove County Ground point, issued 15 October
DayHighHeadline feels-likeMaximum gust
Saturday 17 October14°C11°C29mph
Sunday 18 October13°C10°C28mph

Saturday’s hourly detail has 6°C at 8am, feeling like 3°C. A bright start therefore does not imply a warm early outing. The values above are different forecast measures: a gust is a short peak, not the wind speed sustained all day.

Why a settled UK weekend can still mean showers here

The Met Office’s national outlook published on 15 October attributes a broadly settled weekend to building high pressure. It also identifies eastern and southeastern coastal areas as exceptions, where showers could be heavier, with showers potentially spreading further inland on Sunday.

That is useful context for Sussex: a national description of “largely dry” should not erase a local shower forecast. Neither does a shower symbol mean that rain will fall continuously through a whole day.

What residents should do

For a long seafront walk or an outdoor catch-up, use Saturday as the first choice while keeping the plan flexible. For Sunday, choose a route with an easy return and carry a waterproof. Treat both as editorial planning advice drawn from the forecast, rather than a guarantee of a dry slot.

Open the linked point forecast and select your actual day and hour before leaving. If travelling inland or onto the Downs, select the destination rather than applying this coastal point unchanged. Our Friday morning travel forecast covers the preceding day separately.

Brighton Locals’ view

There is a useful outdoor window in this outlook, but “sunny” is an incomplete packing list. The combination of a chilly start and coastal gusts makes layers more useful than judging the day by its weather icon alone.

What happens next

Watch the next local forecast for changes to Sunday’s shower timing. The national outlook also flags increasing uncertainty about rain early next week; it is too soon to turn that into a precise Brighton disruption forecast.

The bottom line: favour Saturday for a longer outing, and give Sunday a waterproof, flexible plan.
