The United States GP result brought Kimi Antonelli his ninth victory of the season at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on Sunday 25 October. Charles Leclerc finished second and Max Verstappen third, while the drivers’ championship remained undecided.
United States GP result: the confirmed top five
Formula 1’s official results record Antonelli’s winning time as 1:35:16.650. He earned 25 points, with Leclerc taking 18 and Verstappen 15. Hamilton and Norris collected 12 and 10 respectively.
The official race report describes Antonelli using a one-stop strategy, moving from medium to hard tyres while several rivals stopped twice. He preserved enough pace to finish clear despite a late Virtual Safety Car.
Why this changes the weekend’s story
Our Saturday qualifying report established who would start at the front. Sunday provides different evidence: how the cars and drivers managed a full race, traffic and tyre life. Starting position alone could not establish any of those outcomes.
Sky Sports’ race coverage also confirms that the title was not clinched in Austin. Readers catching up on Monday should distinguish a commanding championship position from a mathematically completed contest.
Brighton Locals’ view
Editorial judgement: the useful measure of this drive is the combination of tyre management and the finishing margin. Winning while stopping fewer times is stronger evidence of race control than pole position by itself. It still does not justify writing the championship’s final verdict ahead of the points.
What to watch next
Use F1’s drivers’ standings for the confirmed points position and the official calendar for the next event’s timetable. Calendar displays can use a selected time zone, so check the UK time before planning a live viewing.
The result settles Austin. The championship still has its own test to pass.
