1Password for Agents, announced on 22 October, lets supported AI assistants request approval to sign into an account without receiving its password. The practical change is a new way to authorise a login, rather than having to paste a secret into a conversation.
What 1Password for Agents changes
In its launch explanation, the company describes an agent stopping at a login, requesting the relevant saved credential and continuing after the user approves. It says users can disconnect an integration and do not grant access to their entire vault simply by connecting an agent.
The announcement says the feature is available at no extra cost for Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. It currently excludes accounts hosted on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca. That is an account-hosting distinction: being physically in Britain does not by itself establish eligibility.
Check the integration, not just the launch headline
The company’s integration page and FAQ distinguish supported connections from coming-soon ones. The launch blog places several partners in rollout or future-availability categories. Readers should check their actual agent, device and account before assuming they can use it today.
This report describes the supplier’s design and availability claims. Brighton Locals has not independently tested each integration or audited its implementation.
The limit that matters after sign-in
The FAQ explicitly says an agent may see information or take actions within the authenticated account. For a Brighton freelancer or small business, that distinction matters as much as password handling: a booking account, shop dashboard or customer system can contain valuable information even when its secret never reaches the model.
Our inference is that approval should be a decision about the particular account and task. It is insufficient to ask only whether the password remains hidden.
What you should check
- Confirm your account’s hosting region and the integration’s current status.
- Read which login is requested and what task requires it before approving.
- Consider what that account permits once open, including access to customer details or paid actions.
- Check how to disconnect the integration before relying on it for routine work.

Brighton Locals’ view
Separating credentials from an assistant is a useful design step. Its value depends on clear approval requests and controlled behaviour after login. A safer route through the sign-in form is one part of deciding how much work to delegate.
What happens next
Watch the partner cards for live availability and setup requirements. Independent testing of the full workflow, including withdrawal of access, would strengthen the evidence beyond the launch announcement.
