The Hove fire engine pull will start at the Peace Statue at 11am on Tuesday 20 October 2026, with 16 East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service recruits pulling an engine for 5km along the Hove Promenade parkrun route. In an email to Brighton Locals, Victoria Coombs, writing on behalf of the 43rd ESFRS cohort, confirmed the starting point and invited the community to cheer the recruits along the way.
Hove fire engine pull: what is confirmed
The fire service’s original notice invites the public to support the recruits along Hove Promenade. The Brighton Times also reported the forthcoming challenge on 13 October.
The service’s original notice identified the seafront route. The subsequent email confirms the Peace Statue as the start and invites spectators to support the recruits along the way. It does not specify a finishing time, provide a detailed course map or confirm road-closure arrangements.
Who the fundraising supports
The Fire Fighters Charity supports serving and retired fire-service personnel and their families, including rehabilitation and psychological support. Its own website explains its work.
This event sits within a longer local fundraising effort. In a separate 8 June 2026 update, ESFRS reported £48,297 raised for the charity over the preceding 12 months through activities including car washes and open days. That historic total is not the amount raised by this October challenge.
What residents should do
To watch the start, head to the Peace Statue for 11am on Tuesday 20 October. The organisers welcome people cheering along the route. Leave space for the recruits, engine and event staff, and follow any instructions given on the day.
If you choose to donate, use Ollie Webb’s fundraising page linked by ESFRS. Following the organiser’s link helps identify the intended fundraiser without relying on an unverified social-media appeal.
Brighton Locals’ view
The confirmed starting point makes this community fundraiser easier to plan around, especially for families and people who need to arrange their journey carefully. A start location does not establish access arrangements for the whole course; a detailed route map would still help spectators choose where to watch.
What to watch next
Check the service’s notice for any changes to location, timing or arrangements. Our A259 consultation report covers a separate forthcoming seafront event and its own deadline.
The start is now confirmed: Peace Statue, 11am, Tuesday 20 October. The organisers would welcome the community’s encouragement along the route.
