Last updated: 30 October 2026, 09:13 GMT. The latest service update distinguishes normal deposits from withdrawals that remain paused, following an earlier suspension of both.

Binance withdrawals remain paused after a security incident that the cryptocurrency exchange says has an estimated impact of about US$6.3 billion. In its latest official service update on 30 October, the company says deposits are operating normally while it rebuilds the security of its withdrawal service.

Binance withdrawals paused: what is confirmed?

The company’s formal security announcement, dated 30 October, describes an initial investigation in which a compromised engineer’s laptop may have enabled access to a service container and unauthorised withdrawal transactions. Binance says it has found no evidence of a wallet private-key leak. This is its preliminary account, not a completed forensic finding.

The later update from the verified Binance News account gives the separate position on deposits and withdrawals. It says Binance expects resumption within 48 hours, but does not provide a guaranteed reopening time. Readers should check the live service notice rather than treating that estimate as a countdown fixed by this article.

The company says it will use its SAFU fund and company resources to cover losses, and will publish a technical post-mortem and updated proof of reserves after remediation. A compensation pledge is a company commitment; it is not independent verification that every customer has already been made whole. Similarly, frozen assets should not be described as money already returned to customers.

Why the figures need careful handling

Binance’s current estimate describes the incident’s impact. It should not be converted into an independently established final theft total. Earlier reports used different frozen-asset figures as the response developed.

Associated Press reporting carried by ABC News independently documents the initial disruption and company statements. It also reports co-founder Changpeng Zhao’s view that the incident appeared to be a hack, while explaining that he no longer manages the company. His assessment and the exchange’s investigation are separate sources of comment.

Observable search interest

At our 30 October morning check, Google Trends for the United Kingdom and the United States, each set to the past 24 hours, both listed Binance as an active trend. These are two country datasets, not a worldwide ranking, and search activity does not verify a technical claim.

What customers should do

Check announcements through your usual Binance app or a known official bookmark. Read the current notice before assuming a particular transfer function is available. Keep your own transaction references and account records for any support enquiry, and reach support through the official service rather than unsolicited messages offering recovery or compensation.

Brighton Locals’ view

The service interruption and scale of the company’s estimate warrant close scrutiny. The most useful next evidence will be a clear reopening notice, a technically specific account of what failed and evidence supporting the promised coverage of losses. Reassuring language alone cannot answer those questions.

Bottom line: withdrawals are paused in the latest official update; the final cause, financial outcome and reopening remain matters to verify.
