The Hove Town Hall bus stop marked B is suspended because of roadworks from 13 October 2026, Brighton & Hove Buses says. Passengers travelling towards Hangleton or Southwick are being directed to Second Avenue or Eaton Road rather than waiting at the usual northbound stop.
In short
- Stop B at Hove Town Hall is the suspended stop, not every stop around the building.
- The operator lists routes 2, 5, 5A, 5B, 25, 46 and N5 as affected.
- Second Avenue and Eaton Road are the named alternatives.
- No reopening date is given: the notice says 13 October onwards.
Which Hove Town Hall bus stop is affected?
The operator’s service-update notice identifies Stop B, northbound, and describes the affected direction as towards Hangleton/Southwick. It does not announce cancellation of those seven services or closure of all Town Hall stops. That distinction matters if you are arriving in Hove as well as leaving it.
The route list is an alert list, not a promise that every listed service calls at both alternative stops. Choose the stop for your particular route and direction before setting off.
Why it matters locally
A stop suspension changes the last part of a journey even when the bus itself is running. Someone planning around a connection, carrying shopping or needing a shorter walk should check the replacement boarding point rather than relying on the usual Town Hall routine.
There is also a separate Western Road, Hove diversion on the same operator page, dated 1 October to 6 November. Do not borrow that end date for Stop B: the two notices concern different restrictions. Our Seaford route 12 report covers another current disruption elsewhere in the network, not an alternative route for this Hove closure.
What passengers should do
- Open Brighton & Hove Buses’ Times & Maps and select your route. Check its direction and the calls at Second Avenue or Eaton Road.
- Check the live departure at the stop you will actually use; an arrival time at the suspended stop is not a boarding option.
- For help choosing the right stop, the council’s bus-information guidance gives Brighton & Hove Buses’ number as 01273 886 200. This is general travel guidance, not independent confirmation of the roadworks.
Brighton Locals’ view
The notice is useful because it names the exact stop, direction and alternatives. Its limitation is the open-ended duration. Passengers should not have to infer that one nearby roadworks timetable applies to another. A firm reopening update, and route-by-route replacement-stop clarity, would improve the advice.
What to watch next
Watch for a dated operator update restoring Stop B or changing the alternative boarding points. Until that appears, the confirmed information remains a suspension from 13 October onwards, with no published finish date.
Bottom line
Check the letter on the stop and the direction of your bus. This is a change of boarding point, not a network-wide service cancellation.
